Generally enjoyed my Highschool days and being part of school and club volleyball, basketball and track always gave me something to look forward to. I graduated nursing school and 2 years after working in Jasper, Alberta and A small hospital in Prince Rupert, B.C. I moved to Palm Springs became an Emergency Room/Trauma Nurse which led to also doing a couple years as a Flight Nurse and Critical Care Transport Nurse. After 3 years in the Desert, I discovered surfing, and moved to San Diego area. 22 years of ER and now currently working in the PACU/Recovery Room in Ambulatory Surgery. A 60ft dirtbike fall knocked me out of work, surfing and competing in golf for a year and led to a change of pace in Nursing for a break. I still have my street motor bike but ride only for pleasure not commuting. I turned professional in golf along the way and have competed on the World Long Drive Tour for 8 years and been a member of Team Canada Long Drive for 4 years. Golf Channel owns our event so you may have seen it on there the last couple years. Taking a little break from that and preparing for some major big wave surfing trips over the next couple years. I was lucky and fortunate to be featured in a cover shot in a womens Surfing Magazine in 2009 from a trip to Fiji. Surfing, golf, and nursing pretty much define the Gadget that used to just run around getting volleyballs smashed at her! Life definitely has ups and downs but the journey I took to get me where I am at I don't think I would have done much very different. Except maybe learn how to make more money. California is not cheap, and competing in Long Drive is a rich man's sport. Sorry I cant be there or maybe magically I will but as I write this update I can say Highschool was memorable and helped shape who I am today. Proud to be a L.C.H.S.Tiger!
Rose - Biggest Highlight of High School:
Tapping the fuel pump to get the Volvo going that my sister and I shared to start it in the parking lot and learning to drive Dennis Inglis Camaro- shocked my Dad when he thought he was taking me to teach me to drive a stick shift...I already knew. Learning to golf only because Dennis and David Joinson always were playing so I learned - thanks for the grip tips Dave- who knew I would eventually end up competing in golf? In seriousness, grateful for all the sports teams and sisters /brothers/friendships that grew from that. Grateful to Mr. Cormie for believing in me that I had the potential to pursue medicine. Grateful to Mrs. Stewart for always being there as a coach, mentor and a 2nd Mom. Of course Graduation Day was a highlight. But my first experience at a Grad party when I was in Gr. 10 and Dennis was in Gr. 12 turned into me being so passed out in my own bed, but I did make curfew. Next morning I was so perfectly still as I slept, my own family didnt realize I was home and had the police and neighbors looking for me !! True story! I don\'t think I touched wine coolers for years after that night!
Thorn - Biggest Regret from High School:
Getting caught sneaking out at 4a.m. to complete my news paper route all in an effort to see Dennis before he left for College while I was still in Gr. 12. That led to being grounded a month. Haha Nothing else comes to mind as I write this. I mean who keeps a paper route solely to find time and have an excuse to leave the house early just to see their boyfriend??
